Kori Balaam is a student at LSU (Louisiana State University, Geaux Tigers), on a path to becoming a dentist. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, and later raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kori’s journey reflects a blend of curiosity and dedication. With an interest in dentistry sparked by a desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, she is committed to advancing her knowledge and skills in this field.

Kori’s international experiences, having visited over 25 countries, have deeply influenced her perspective on global health disparities and reinforced her passion for dental care. Her travels have provided her with a unique understanding of diverse healthcare practices and the challenges faced by underserved communities.

Kori is an astute student and was awarded over $2,000,000 is merit scholarships in her senior year of High School all while being accepted to more than 35 Universities & Colleges. It was her high schools record for this accomplishment.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Kori is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she engages in numerous volunteer activities. Domestically, she has volunteered with local clinics and organized dental health awareness campaigns, working to improve access to care and education within her community. Internationally, she has participated in medical and dental brigade missions, providing dental care to underserved populations in countries such as Panama. These experiences have honed her skills and strengthened her resolve to make a global impact through her chosen profession.

An avid reader, Kori also enjoys delving into literature that broadens her understanding of both her field and the world. Balancing her academic and professional ambitions with her passion for service, she remains dedicated to contributing positively to both local and global communities.
